Ergonomics in the Crane Cab

Crane operators in waste incinerations plants often work multiple shifts 365 days per year. Productivity is crucial, but it's important to overlook ergonomics and the importance of operator health. Choosing an ergonomic control station  enables fatigue-free work and will ultimately boost productivity.

Control stations

Shift work and long hours of sitting are part of a crane operator's daily life, and it is paramount that a crane's control station offer the highest level of ergonomics, comfort and adjustability. Features like ergonomic backrests, fixed side support and headrests all contribute to healthy sitting positions. However, the adjustability of armrests, control consoles and suspensions must also be taking into consideration to improve the posture during crane operation and properly support the neck and back.

To support crane operators in Waste-to-Energy plants, we've introduced the ergonomic FSMMD Ultra that has been designed specifically for cranes in these facilities. The FSMMD Ultra offers electric position adjustments and the capability of transforming the station from a sitting to standing operating position. Featuring phone app control and memory functionality, this smart control station model allows operators to save their preferred operating positions and instantly restore them at the start of their shift. This bypasses the typical time-consuming manual readjustments after each shift change, allowing operators to get right to work.
